Client
As Ohio University's study abroad department, the Office of Global Opportunities (OGO) serves as the hub for global programs by coordinating with both local and third-party program directors to offer diverse opportunities to students.
Challenge
To promote specific global programs, program directors need engaging marketing materials with clear information and calls to action. For each of the following programs, I art directed thematic campaigns and executed assets ranging from posters to digital displays to social media posts.
Campaign Assets
Costa Rica: Introduction to Global Health
I took inspiration from the paintings on Costa Rican oxcarts, reinforcing a modern approach by way of vector lineart and gradients.
Germany: Rhetorics of Remembrance
As per client request, I avoided an overly somber visual approach to the campaign by using bright, cool colors to balance the other contextualizing visual elements.
Thailand: Culture & Classroom
I took inspiration from traditional Thai patterns. I also felt captivated by the monuments in Bangkok, which stand apart in their brilliant colors and physical enormity.
Exploration of Culture in Paris & London
I took inspiration from the architecture of Parisian cafés and roadsigns, finding a particular significance in their surrounding greenery. As per client request, I also incorporated pink, which is associated with Paris.
UK: Storytelling in Education
I took inspiration from the illustrations found in classic children's storybooks, which I emulated in a digital painting program (ibis Paint X) and then integrated with vector graphics (Adobe Illustrator).
Kenya: Climate Change, Conservation & Environmental Justice
This series stands apart in that I made it almost entirely in Canva, save for the pattern used on the quarter-sheet handouts, made in Adobe Illustrator. I felt inspired by the strong colors and geometric patterns found in Kenyan art, so I incorporated these elements while designing a layout which could be easily updated.
Results
All posters and digital slides were displayed around Ohio University's campus and at various conventions. As per request, I also manually converted the Illustrator files to editable Canva files, which could be updated and used indefinitely.
