Research
I began by collecting data for the Oscar Award for Cinematography from Wikipedia, compiling results in a spreadsheet.
Graph Building
I graphed the data in Adobe Illustrator and arranged them on their place within the composition. I printed these and cut out white areas with a craft knife.
Photographic Conceit
Finally, I photographed the results of directing a light source through the cutouts. After obtaining the raw photo, I made thematic adjustments in Photoshop.
